Centralized Control at Scale: Organizational User Management in Nx Witness Enterprise

In the past, Nx Witness Pro customers managed users at the Site (formerly Hive) level, with each Site representing a standalone system of up to 10 servers. While effective for many deployments, this structure introduced limitations for larger organizations. Critical functions, like replacing a failed server and managing power users, often depended on a single Administrator account (formerly Owner).

If that person was unavailable, work could be delayed, creating an operational bottleneck.

A New Way to Manage Users

With the release of Generation 6, Nx Witness introduced Organizational User Management, a feature available exclusively in the subscription variant of the Nx product suite, including Nx Witness Enterprise.

This capability allows administrators to centrally manage users, roles, and access across all Sites connected through a unified management layer called an Organization.

An Organization acts as a container that unifies multiple Sites, users, and resources, enabling configuration and control across an entire deployment, rather than managing each Site individually.

Key advantages:

  • Multiple Administrators: Enterprises can now assign more than one Organization Administrator, eliminating reliance on a single account.
  • Simplified Onboarding: Add users once at the Organization level, rather than repeating the process across individual Sites.
  • Structured Permissions: Use folders within the Organization to delegate access by department, project, or integrator team.
  • Consistent Experience: Share permissions, layouts, and notifications across Sites, improving efficiency and reducing duplication of work.

Benefits for Security Teams and Integrators

For security teams, Organizational User Management ensures business continuity. Operations are no longer delayed if a key administrator is unavailable, and governance is strengthened through clearer role delegation.

For system integrators, it means quicker access to the management tools they need to service systems, reducing downtime and simplifying collaboration with Enterprise customers. Organizations can also grant their Channel Partner Organization Administrator access, giving all members of that partner elevated privileges to assist with tasks such as replacing servers, configuring Event Rules, or managing users.

Available Now in Nx Witness Enterprise

Organizational User Management is not available in Nx Witness Pro (perpetual license). Nx Witness Pro continues to be a strong option for smaller deployments, but for enterprises that need centralized user management, multi-admin support, and streamlined operations across many Sites, Nx Witness Enterprise provides these capabilities through a recurring subscription model.
