Introducing Nx Maps Advanced
2 minute read

If you've ever managed a large camera deployment, you know the problem. Device lists are fine for configuration, but they tell you nothing about where things actually are, what they're covering, or how your sites connect spatially. That's exactly what Nx Maps was built to solve.

What Is Nx Maps?

Nx Maps is Network Optix's built-in GIS mapping tool. It provides a live, interactive map of your entire security environment. Place cameras exactly where they are, draw and color-code their fields of view, and launch a live feed with a single click. Whether you're managing one building or dozens of sites spread across a region, Nx Maps turns a list of devices into a picture you can actually use.

Included with Nx Witness Enterprise

Nx Maps is a core part of Nx Witness Enterprise. If you're running Enterprise, you already have access — no add-on required, no extra cost. It's part of the foundational value of the platform. If you're on Nx Witness Pro, you have basic map support, but the full Nx Maps experience lives at the Enterprise tier. With the release of version 2.0, Nx Maps is also now fully functional in the browser.

Introducing Nx Maps Advanced

For organizations that need more than situational awareness, we're introducing Nx Maps Advanced — a paid add-on that brings additional features designed for active, operational environments.

Nx Maps Advanced is priced per device, consistent with our existing licensing structure. There are no flat platform fees; your device limit scales directly with the relevant services available in your Site.

Here's what it unlocks:

Live device position sync. On the included plan, device positions update when you refresh the page. With Nx Maps Advanced, positions update in real time. For any deployment with moving assets — such as vehicles — this makes a significant operational difference.

Object display mode. This is where Nx Maps Advanced becomes a genuinely operational tool. When a device is calibrated in-map, Nx Maps Advanced pulls the AI detection metadata from that device and renders detected objects — with their position and attributes — directly on the map.

Nx Maps Advanced enables a two-layer operational model: real-world action paired with live remote oversight. A team in the field — whether that's a vehicle, a person, or any mobile asset — can be tracked in real time by someone at a monitoring center or back at a depot. That observer sees not just where assets are, but what they're detecting. This applies across a wide range of verticals and use cases wherever intelligent field activity needs to be overseen from a central point of control.

Who Should Be Looking at Nx Maps Advanced?

If you're managing a static environment where situational awareness is enough, the included Nx Maps experience covers you. But if you're dealing with moving assets, active AI analytics, or need to act on detections in real time — Nx Maps Advanced is what makes that possible inside Nx Witness.
